Little something for Kathie to chew on

So then you do agree Vince is the gretest QB ever from UT football then right? Cause you wouldn't take major, chris or james brown over him. For a scrambling qb, he's still hitting 60% or higher

Yes I do agree we have to expect more, but considering our past, we have never reached this high, ever. Until we win a championship I will continue to take baby steps. Until I see our dominance in big games I can't expect to win every big game, i have to hope. In the past when we play miami, penn state for bowls we get run over. Michagan is the first big school we have beat in the recent years on a bowl. Or i guess you can say LSU too but they weren't even ranked top 25 in the bowl when we played them. I just have huge scars from this and I guess it's easier for me to see them lose a big game cause we never play good teams in bowls or even top 5 teams. Kathie, mack brown is 1-14 against top 5 ranked teams. John Mackavic is even worse. so i may be wrong for doubting UT, but this win over OSU is the first step in beating quality teams. OU is not a Top 5 team this year. We beat them then great. but everyone has us to beat them so it's not so special. and if we lose it's just another defeat to OU. I'm numb from the 63 pts drubbing they gave us. That is exactly why this OSU win is so important. Rivaraly week we play OU but so does every other big team. We don't get the national attention like this OSU vs UT game. This is freaking huge, an even program changing moment. Maybe now we can retain more Texas players from OU.

So if your comparing Vince Young to Jason White. I would take Vince Young. I hate to tell you but Jason White never won a National Championship with having 2 shots at it. LSU and USC both beat him and it was largely his fault. Look at the LSU game and you see a piss poor performace from a so called "great" pocket passer. Look at USC and they killed him. QB Josh Heupel was the qb to lead OU to their 2000 championship run.

Both of those games were on neutral grounds, and TX went into the horse shoe which is like 42-0 in non conference play and 8-0 at night.

So i can agree with you that you favor a traditional pocket passer. I applaud that as at least your have an opinion.

But lets see what is there from past memory

jason white - pocket passer that didn't win a national championship. sure he heat up on UT alot. - I would still take vince young

Nate Hybel & Josh Heupel - great pocket passers and heisman condidates. These would be kathie's picks as they are winners, champions, and consistant in the pocket. - i would still take vince young, he's more dangerous

Other Note worthy pocket passers
Ryan Leaf, Eli Manning, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Carson Palmer... - Um I would still take Vince Young
The only one that sticks out that I would take over Vince Young is Peyton Manning. But even Peyton Manning needed 2 cracks at the National Championship to win it. And there is only one peyton manning.

Other vince like qbs
Donavon McNabb, Daunte Culpper, Jack Plumber, Steve McNair, MIchael Vick, Eric Crouch
You could split hairs on this one. Donovan was good but no championship. Culpepper was good but played at central florida so no compeition. Jack Plumber is just Jack Plumber. McNair played at a lower division, like 4a or something. Michael Vick is good but I don't think he passes as well as Vince when he was a junior.

If Michael Vick was the #1 draft pick and is worth more than 100 million but I would rather take Vince, umm, yeah.

So from all this, the only other qb I might take over Vince Young as a pure "Pocket" passer is Peyton Manning. all other pocket passers and hybrids I would take Vince.

So yes kathie. I am a 24/7 Vince Young Fan. I was only a 12/7 fan after the michagan win, but after the OSU win i'm all day everyday even with a loss to OU. I think he is the great QB UT has ever.

Now on to the Heisman
Heisman is supposed to be the best player award, but I believe Oline, Dline, and Linebackers are always overlooked. IF it wasn't for Charles Woodson they would only go to the offense.

So history lesson. Usually the Heiman winner will suck in NFL. so i don't care if Vince gets it or not. Ricky was the only exception but even he didn't do it for more than 4 years. He had 2 very good years and the rest were avg and he didn't play long at all. Archie Griffen won 2 back to back and he sucked in the pros. so Heisman means nothing to me

just look at Eric Crouch. he's a running qb that was okay passer but didn't win it all, I just don't want vince to be like crouch.

But if there is an "MVP" for 1 person. (UT defense would get the award) I think Vince is the man, he beat michagan and he was the offense agasint OSU's (and they have 2 nfl linebackers)

i'm glad you interested kathie and accept your opinion. Just something else to make you a cheerleader
