Wii Fit Post #1

So. the great Cheng and Nguyen clan pulled together and got me wii fit for my bday. That is pretty cool considering I was looking for it but gave up since it's sold out everywhere and I'm lazy about working out.

Does it work? Not really sure. It seems accurate but seems weird I can be losing that much weight. I'm wondering if the standard "light" clothing option of 2lbs is fluctuating for me. I generally wear some shorts and a tank or a tshirt so the poundage shouldn't change so much.

I'm 5'8 and turning 30yrs old in a couple days.

BMI Goal without taking in my frame is:

BMI 25
Weight: 169 (just a side note. last time I was 169 was back in 7th grade. Even for my wedding when I ran 6 times a week I was down to 185lbs)

Try to do a minimum of 30min to 45min each time.

BMI is BS but I'll go with it as a way to drive myself from being "fat"

I don't know what the deal is. I try and weight myself at the same time of day and before I work out but still. I dropped almost 17 lbs and I thought my weight was for sure around 205lbs. I call BS. I did have some tokyo one buffett and maggiano's the day before my bday and after and maybe my body is dumping it all out? I don't see my body getting more exercise than when I do 30min elliptical. I don't sweet that much on the wii.

The old scale we got I go between 198-202lbs

CORRECTION

So Wii Fit comes with some extra standoffs to lift you higher off of thicker carpet. Didn't think I needed it so I just left them off cause I could slide the wii fit under the couch easily w/o them. Well for giggles I put them on and guess what. I didn't lose jack

I'm still 205 and obese. Dooooh. I think the carpet helped take some weight off of me. I will continue to use the standoffs. So I didn't lose any weight. A duh. I'm drinking beer. but I feel my triceps and and stomache getting tighter.

$100 off sony PS3? You betcha!

So, after many months of almost buying a Archos 605, ipod nano, and the xbox 360 premium set I have decided that Blu Ray is king.

So, this is how the story goes. I won a ipod nano from someone I invited using the winzy search engine. He won a IPod Nano and since I was the one who invited him I won too, sweet! I took the cash option from amazon for $150. That $150 had to be spent. Reason? If you don't spend the cash winning then you really didn't win anything. the cash will just get dumped into your bank and lost like you never won anything.

Interesting how God works. As I constantly donated away my gaming and vegas winnings to charities like living water, acres of hope, and child's play charity, more and more money kept pouring in. Sure the Ignite business was blowing up but the more I gave away of my own personal allowance the more I won (all earnings from Ignite have gone to the kids and Jess's spending). Between blingo, winzy, epinions, switchplanet, goozex, ebay, surveys, Las Vegas, birthdays... I was taking in a lot of personal spending money. I have allocated $40/month to anything (toys) as sign that if I really wanted something I'm going to save to get it. I was planning on saving for a full year to get a xbox 360. Instead? The more I donated the more I got showered with more return! That is just mind blowing.

Deal breakdown on how I got a PS3 for $279.99
-I opened a new amazon account under Nathan
-Rated a ps3 controller, ps3 remote, and some ps3 cables as 5 stars
-Everyday the amazon gold box would suggest some items and for that day those items are 5% off.
-I applied for this chase sony card that gives you $100 back if you spend $299. The ad for this card actually has a ps3 and pushes it to use it. Chase Card $100 off anything over $299. People have been using this card to buy ipods, xbox 360, and tvs...
-I had to buy the PS3 by Jan 31 to get the 5 free blu ray movies... check!
-I ordered the ps3 40gb for $379.99 (reg $399.99) with standard free shipping jan 31 like at 10pm. Chase saw the charge on Feb 1
-I got the ps3 in my house feb 4 at noon. Now that is fast free shipping!
-$100 sony chase credit posted to my account feb 5.

Total cost to own a PS3 = $279.99
Total I paid for my wii = $269.98

PS3 is the better deal hands down. I'll speak more of folding@home in another post.

what is up with ps3? no internal scaler for 1080i?

so I was pretty close to buying a PS3 40gb (i don't want to play ps2/ps1 games) because I wanted a blu ray player and HD gaming device. The wii doesn't count as a HD device since it only does 480p and sometimes graphics are necessary. I've been saving up for about 6months selling odd things and doing surveys and such. Well, I finally have enough saved up and while doing some research I ran into this like little bit of information.

The ps3 will not take any native 720p games and scale it to 1080i resolution. My tv is a 480i/480p/1080i. I can not use 720p. My cable box will take a 720p signal and upconvert it to 1080i. This is the same problem as the original xbox in that any source that was 720p encoded it would downconvert to 480p. say what! A $400/$500 piece of hardware doesn't do internal scaling? if the game was encoded in 720p/1080i then it's not an issue. it's for the couple games like resistance fall of man which does only 720p.

The xbox 360 doesn't have this issue as it has an internal scaler. What also bugs me is that the games are NOT 1080p encoded yet that I know of. ps3 keeps talking about Full HD in 1080p yet most if not all the game are 720p. They then upconvert that to 1080p. so games basically now that state 1080p are probably 720p/1080i which my tv likes and then allows a 1080p set to see the 1080i part. why even push 1080p television sets when you don't even have media that is native to that resolution.

I'm glad they put the "grizzly bear" filter instead of the "polar bear" filter as I sound pretty low in this interview.

i like how they put "my hatred for madden's re-hashed games" even though I said i liked the wii edition but they edited that out to make it seem like i'm just a pure hater. nice!

I get Nintendo Wii games for free!

So currently I've been with this group called switchplanet (formely known as switchdiscs) for close to 1 year and I have joined their team to review videogames. Well, considering I have a R4 I don't have a real need to get DS games but I do have a Nintendo Wii.

My first game to review will be SSX Blur for the Wii. I hear the controls are a bit rough but I haven't played SSX since the original on ps2 way back in the day with kathie. A lot of the reivews for this game rated is as pretty good but just not great cause the controls are hard to handle. If this game is anything like excite truck I'm going to love it.

Yeah yeah so I don't get to own the game and I'm obligated to send the game out and pay for postage but I think that's pretty cool.

excite truck for the wii

quick game review -

this game rocks because:

1. it's fast
2. it's got custom soundtracks you can import using your SD card
3. it's got combos
4. it's got damage
5. it's got lots of elevation
6. it's fast
7. oh, and you turn by tilting the wiimote. you hold it horizontally

needs help:

1. graphics are descent but could be better
2. needs more then just 2 player
3. needs online support for multiplayer
4. needs more combo moves

love the game and glad i got it here.
