My jury duty experience

richmond TX reporting for jury duty for Fort Bend County.

1st time and have to say it was very interesting to see the courts and how it works.
out of 144 ppl. 3 panels of 6 were needed. so out of 144 ppl, 18 were chosen and I was one.

Wayne was there too, funny guy, and we were actually sitting right next to each other. how come he wasn't picked and why the 2 young asians gotta be grouped together?

charge against 26 yr old was from LAST YEAR june 2005.
Terroristic Threat - To threaten to cause bodily harm to another and to have INTENT to do so to put that person in IMMENINENT danger.

The key is to have intent and to do so NOW. if you can't prove both, he's innocent until proven guilty. Verdict was not guilty cause we could not say with a reasonable doubt that he wanted to commit his crime NOW, but maybe more so tomorrow which is so retarded to have a charge like that put on him. give him another charge that doesn't have such a tight time schedule.

The defendant admits to saying what he said but you can't make him guilty of terroristic threat cause you can't say for sure he's intending to do so NOW.

i think what he said was "i hope you have your vest one when i pull the trigger". dude, pin him on it!

they had a vidotape and it pretty much had 3 strikes against he 2 officers. they denied 3 things when in fact it was opposite in the tape. in doing so, your becoming a less viable witness by not knowing what really happened and the fact the guy wasn't that drunk. so i accuse the DA.

1)DA should not take cases that you can not win
2)DA needs or should if they can review the statements of "their" witnesses.
3)If you submit evidence, you have to review it. if you got a tape, watch it before you have your witnesses testify and make them seem like they didn't remember all to clearly.

We can say the defendent was "not guilty" of terroristic threat, BUT he was guilty of threatening them and made the cops fear for their lives. I feel the DA needs more experience before taking on a "he said, she said" type of case.

All in all, good experience, but remember, tell the truth when the do Voir Dire. Just don't be so smart in responding.

"mr. tam, what do you need beside evidence and a witness to convict this man?" I replied "intent". doooooooh

"mr. tam would you say this man is guilty because he is in court today?" I replied "No, he's innocent until proven guilty in a court of law." dooooooooh.
