Congrats to Obama

I didn't vote for him but I want him to DO what he has campaigned for, Change. Let's just hope it's for the better. People saying this is the worst time in history really need to wake up. It can and might get worse before his term is up.

Oh, I don't understand this issue with him being the first african american president. He's like 1/2 white. You might as well have said..

Breaking news, the first partial white man is president. Who the F cares if it's black or white. I think it's interesting to have a Hawaiian President that has admitted to taking cocaine. At least he's truthful to it.

it's hard to judge presidents as their situations are different when they served. If Obama can do better than Bush while surviving a couple natural disasters like Rita/Katrina/Ike/Flooding and another huge terrorist attack then I'll start to really believe he's the real deal.

I hope someone takes a picture of him today and when his term is up in 4 years. I wonder how much he will age considering the amount of stress that will fall onto an inexperienced leader.

Sorry Michell, your just going to have to pay a little extra taxes to help those less fortunate than you. Who cares if you busted your butt to get there.

Funny story I got off of a forum that talks about redistribution of wealth. Please don't take this too seriously.

FATHER - DAUGHTER TALK

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so
many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal
Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of
higher taxes to support more government programs; in other words,
redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican,
a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had
participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that
her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what
he thought should be his.

One day, she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher
taxes on the rich, and the need for more government programs . The
self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professor had to be the
truth, and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how
she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and
let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was
taking a difficult course load and was constantly studying, which
left her little time to go out and party like other people she knew. She
didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many
college friends either because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened, then asked, 'How is your friend Audrey doing?'

She replied, 'Audrey is barely getting by. She takes a lot of easy
classes, she rarely studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is popular

on campus, and she goes to a lot of parties, and lots of times she doesn't

even show up for classes because she's too hung over.'

Her father asked her, 'Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him
to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend Audrey, who only
has a 2.0? That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA, and certainly that
would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.'

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired
back, 'That's a crazy idea! How would that be fair? I've worked really
hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work.
And she's done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I
worked my tail off!'

The father slowly smiled and said gently, 'Welcome to the Republican
Party.'

AMEN! The Republican principles are centered on responsibility and self-reliant. We definitely give to charity every year (United Way, JDF, TXFOP, March of Dimes, Hope Initiative, etc.) to help out the less fortunate because we feel it's the right thing to do not because the goverment mandates it. 20/20 did a study a couple of years ago about "Who Gives and Who Deosn't?" They show that conservative give ~30% more than liberals. Ironic? Not because they make more...read the article.

On the other note, I do not understand why this is more of a historical election because a black man is voted into the white house. Why does color or gender matter? History is made because we will have a new president of USA. I feel like the media is making this a racial issue when it is not. It about who is most qualify. It's they who hold on to the past that hinders progress. I voted fot the candidate I know had a clear plan to lead this country. I'm am very skeptical that Obama can keep all his promises made during his campaign. Talk is cheap. I will, however ,respect him because he is the leader of the country I love dearly. I would never desecrate our leader like so many people did to Bush. When you start kicking our leaders to the ground, other countries will do the same thus affecting our image.

Change is the phrase I keep hearing since election day. Change for the better or worse...we'll see.

people are silly. people love to play the blame game and not own up to their own mistakes.

Cracking on the president over and over like you could do better pisses me off. Bush is way smarter than a lot of people and his job is 100x harder.

If we can't respect our own president why would other nations give him respect?

Obama is the next president. Lets roll with him.
