Hey, I think I'm a pretty nice guy.
3 things I'm looking for
1) Good communication - If you don't know what I'm saying and you don't stop to ask questions, we got some problems.
2) Good worker - I only have room for 1 slacker in my group and I tend to do the slacking.
3) Drafting and Modeling skills - 3D exposure to soldiers would be ideal as we do that 90% now. But having experience in Mechanical Desktop, Inventor, Pro/E... all are welcome as solidworks is so easy to learn.
I've been looking and of the 15 resumes, 10 interviews in 2 months I can only really suggest 2.
We actually setup a solid model and we want people to make a 2-D drawing from it. Very easy if you have done it a couple times. The other test is to find errors on a 2-D print. Again, very easy if you have seen fabrication drawings before.
candidate #1
Good solid modeling
Good work history
Good drafting skills
Con in communication. His Vietnamese might be a problem. I don't know but he's the front runner.
candidate #2
Fast learner - he is the only one that actually used the help file to get through a part.
Seems to have good communication skills
Con - very green, younger than me and has no degree and no solid modeling experience.
Con - would have to train him but not a problem cause I would teach them anyways.
Lot of people seem to lie about their work experience or have no communications skills whatsoever.
